666 is not a bad number, there is no such thing as a bad number. Its like saying the knife is a bad tool because you can stab people with it. Its what you do with your tool that decides how it impacts the world.

The number just is. It is what it is. What is represented by that number is VERY bad.

We all know what 666 represents in the Bible, so how should we treat the number 666, when it just comes up? I recently herd about someone who refused to compete in a marathon because they were assigned #666 as jersey number. What should we think when you buy something, the amount ends up $6.66, or it your new licence plate has it on it, your hotel room ends up room 666?

Does this begin to seem like religion causes superstitions, old sayings that are taken out of context? If the number 666 congers up a superstitious feeling, people may think it really is the presence of the devil, is that also not a kind of idolatry sin and also really not the work of the devil? You are placing some power to that number randomly coming up in life, where its use purely as a number is nothing more than your imagination. Or is it really the devil playing mind games when ever you see that number, is evil closer to you?

You can really take this subject to other levels, that if you feel the number itself means nothing, than you also have to considered religious customs like thinking meditation allows the devil to enter you, or dancing its sinful., etc. What is no more than just superstitions stemming from maybe a simple passage, and nothing more?

To have some idea what this number means you have to study a little ancient numerology. The letters of the alphabet in both Hebrew and ancient Greek all stood for a number. They did not have special letters for numbers like 1 2 3 as we use now. The Greek letters for the name Jesus add up to 888. This number system could be used to send secret messages. The Church later suppressed this and people forgot how to use numbers in the dark ages. So the writer of Revelation gave the Anti-christ a number. This is thought to be for Nero, but Nero's several names are in Latin which is different. So the early followers of Jesus used words that added to 666 in Greek as their code for Nero.
