Numerous sites blackout in opposition to the proposed SOPA and PIPA bills that are currently "shelved" by Congress.

SOPA - http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/.....2:h.r.3261:

PIPA - http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/.....c112:S.968:

Note: Both links to the bills are experience something that is making them unable to load. I suspect it's due to the blackouts and increased awareness, but we'll see by tomorrow.

Edit - Links now seem to be working.

They'll just bundle them into other bills and pass them. Then Obama, who said he'd veto them, will sign them into being. He won't like them but he'll sign them anyway. 🙄

He said he'd veto the NDAA too, but we know how that went.

Edit - Sorry, I'm agreeing with you. My bad if my response was a little hostile. Laugh

Fox is now showing support against these bills as well. Interesting, seeing as how Murdoch criticized Google and the opposition to the bills. (http://www.forbes.com/sites/jeffbercovi ... -and-sopa/)

...it’s one thing to use existing legal channels to get unauthorized content removed from WikiLeaks’ pages. It’s another thing entirely to create new laws that, according to the Electronic Frontier Foundation, mean businesses and governments could get unopposed court orders to cut off such sites entirely, blocking even their perfectly legal and legitimate content from public view.

In the new era of digital democracy the Internet has promised us, potential censorship through SOPA threatens the values our nation and the net holds dear.

Students are bummed they can't use Wiki for important papers. Funny, I'm in college and I still take the extra time to use actual books from a library. Might just be me though.

Yes. It's just you, bud. Sorry.

LOL! They shut down Megaupload.com on piracy charges! If this isn't a big middle finger to us I don't know what is!

I too found returning to sopa difficult, and had one disconnect.

I've got a couple of sopa amendments / changes straight out of sopa I find

disturbing I will attempt to post tonight.
