I was reading the yahoo artical about the trapped miners in South America, and what they are having to endure. Just to read it all, is such a horrifying thought, it would make anyone crack up and go insane. 33 men, trapped in a 600 sq. ft. area, I think with some adjoining tunnels, but this is the main enclosure. They have very limited space, very limited food, very little light, and are 2000 feet underground entombed. A 26 in tunnel will take up to 4 months to reach them, and the fear they will gain weight, will not allow them to fit into the extraction tube. I would never fit, and sounds like most people would be too large to fit into it, let alone be pulled 2000 feet through it. The thought of one getting jammed inside, and the panic of wanting to be first, for fear of a failure, you will be doomed. Every thought about their future would make the strongest man alive, go insane. Imagine the thought of not bathing, all living in 4 months of their waste, nothing to do, hot and blackness for months, tempers, getting sick, possible deaths. Very grim outlook. Most men may say to end their suffering for all of them painlessly.

In view of all this I read 55 comments from people, many were totally sympathetic, but I must have read 20 of them making cruel and callus remarks, jokes, and just ignorant statements about overtime, and mexicans. I also read the same ratio of those kind of remarks, on the comments concerning the 8 people, killed at the off road race last week. The same person on both articals programed the same political message that kept refreshing every 30 minutes. It was just sick!

What is wrong with our society? What is wrong with people that an event like this should bring everyone to their knees, praying for those trapped. The level of decency and level of having no boundries in what they wrote, reminded me of the level the Blackvault ends up sometimes. No common sence in the mean spirited, and callus ways we trash each other, for no more than a difference of opinion. No vile level is off limits anymore, so we justify puke in's as freedom of speech. The very idea of crossing lines of making jokes while people suffer the worst possible fate, defies humanity. The personal below the belt comments, the vile way people are treated for an opinion on the BV, from politics to worshiping God, is beyond belief sometimes.

When I read the comments about the miners, I realized the mentality of people here could care less about the issues, they are here just to entertain themselves. Who in their right mind makes jokes about being trapped and having the most horrifying deaths imaginable, just to get a rise out of those who care? What possible reason could anyone have for this?

This is the internet, with no human contact, where nobody has a real identity, or real accountabilty for what we say or do. Anything goes, Insults, disrespect, flaming, and being rotton to the core, being everything your Mother would be ashamed of, not to mention God.

God help us all, what have we become joking about being buried alive, or what we say to each other over an opinion?

I think people here in the BV perceive political discourse/attacks as personal attacks. However, it is difficult to tell a person's tone with words on the web. Although I try my best to envisage the person's voice through the words, sometimes I feel like a dolt for doing so...lol

The only way I can explain it is, it's been foretold, it is unstoppable, and it will get worse.

Sad, isn't it?

Frosty, maybe that is because people like yourself believe it to be true. Remember the theory of self fulfilling prophecy. Or as John Lennon said, "it's all in the mind".

Greeney, I don't get it. I had a boss who was raised in West Virginia. His father was a coal miner. Most of the men in his family were. That's why he was the first to get an education and move out west to get away from that. I believe the average life span of a miner is around 40ish. That is a hard life.

What these men have gone through is unimaginable. For anyone to make jokes...ugh...Besides, it wasn't in Mexico. Those idiots are just showing their ignorance. Either that or they work for the cia 😉 But, I repeat myself. Laugh

Such a society would be dominated by an elite, unrestrained by traditional values. Soon it will be possible to assert almost continuous surveillance over every citizen... - Zbigniew Brezhinsky

I'm about to unleash hell on this sort of crap. Honestly---surely you're joking--if not then please refrain from posting ( I know it my kill you inside ) but Jesus Christ NOBODY with even one working brain cell will ever take you seriously. EVER!

Greeney is indeed VERY smart to ask: WTH IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE?

Have you considered medication. If not for any other reason, do it for the rest of us.

The simple truth of the matter is that it's getting more and more prevalent to make jokes no matter whom or what the subject is directed at. Whether it's the death of someone (Michael Jackson, Patrick Swayze) or the miners in question, or even the devastation of Katrina, the idea of decency is slowly going out the window and people are getting more and more desensitized to the point where things like this aren't fazing them.

I have a lot of friends that fall into that category, and I myself sometimes mix into it.

War is an extension of economics and diplomacy through other means.

Economics and diplomacy are methods of securing resources used by humans.

Securing resources is the one necessary behavior for all living things.

I don't know why my answer sent him over the deep end. It's the same answer given by all the Christians on this board, probably 6 times in the last couple weeks. No reaction from Cole until... until I say it for once. 🙄

The quarter million folks at the rally in DC today would also completely agree. I'd say Cole is actually in a small minority if he doesn't believe evil is an ever-growing presence and that it has been foretold in sacred Scripture.

Cole is welcome to disagree, but, to say he's going to unleash hell and then tell me not to post? That was just a smidge extreme.

Yeah, never-mind it just so happened to coincide with the anniversary of the day that Martin Luther King, Jr. gave his famous "I Have a Dream" speech, which he delivered there 47 years ago, and there were hundreds of thousands of people there celebrating that also. 🙄
