I went to see the new True Grit last week with a little trepidation. I never thought the original with John Wayne could be out done, but low a behold the new one is a much better movie, one of the best I have seen this year. If you want to see a great movie, don't miss this one. Jeff Bridges has done a great job and deserve The Oscar for his performance.

Glad to know you liked it.

I am part of the PGA, Producers Guild of America, and each year we get about 30-40 movies in the mail, some of which, before they are released. True Grit is one of them I got this year a few weeks before the movie was released.

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to watch it yet. Wanted to wait for Mom and Dad to come over and watch as I know they want to see it to...

It looks pretty phenomenal though!

Lots of critics echo your sentiments, but ( in my opinion Laugh ) it's all due to new technology, therefor better effects.

One such critic claims that this movie is far funnier than the original, but that is like saying Albert Pujols is a better ball player than Ted Williams. Just a different time, and a different place---In it's time the original True Grit stood alone as the best written movie of all time, the acting not bad either.

Absent Google: If I were to ask who played " Lucky Ned Pepper " in the original---would anyone other than those old enough, or those that saw the movie, have a clue? I highly doubt it.

I'll eventually see it, and if it is anywhere near to the original I'll be impressed. Bridges is one of my favorites, a great actor:

He was in two obscure movies with little credit, Blown Away---and Vanished---he'll have to go far to better those efforts.

Glad you liked it Billy--Nothing worse than a bad movie.

Cole

I predicted that if this True Grit movie was a sucess, the natural sequel would be Rooster Cogburn, and the only one to play the role of Katheren Hepburn would have to be Kate Blanchet. She had her charcter of KH perfect in the Howard Hughes story.

I have not seen the new "True Grit" and I also have much trepidation about it. As a kid I always loved 'the Duke's movies.

Glad to know that many feel it was handled well.
P.S. I hated "I Robot" the movie. But that is of course a movie from a book and that often never lives up (or in that case, much resembles) the original story.

True Grit looks to be one of the few big screen movies that is actually good these days..so much fluff on the big screens.

I want to see it, but I have to wait for it to come out on PPV or DVD..don't do the movies very often these days

I loved the CG in "2012" but the plot, story, and acting was hilarious. (that is to say just really bad)

Same here. VOD or HBO Canada

Maybe I will go Thursday!
I haven't seen the original Billy, but I hope this
is a good one!
