Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Ludicrousness story #45,657:

On October 18, 2014 (that's 2014, remember that) - I requested from the United States Air Force Headquarters, at the Pentagon, all documents pertaining to the role of the USAF for the X-37B's mission. The X-37B was the Top Secret unmanned spacecraft, which stayed in space for TWO YEARS - but no one knows why.

On June 7, 2016 (that's 2016 now) I received a letter from Vandenberg Air Force Base that Air Force HQ forwarded my request to them -- which they received on June 3 of 2016, just a few days prior.

I'm sorry - how long did it take to forward my letter? Ok, moving on.

I let it go, and I waited for a response, which actually didn't take long. On June 9, today, I received a response! They told me that they were not responsible for the records, and they were forwarding my request on to the office that was. Where? United States Air Force, Headquarters, at the Pentagon. Yep, the exact spot I first sent my request into, nearly two years ago.

It took that long to wind up in the exact same spot and start all over.

Sincerely,

John Greenewald, Jr.

It seems they've gotten exceedingly good at the runaround.  Either that or this IS the current state of bureaucratic inefficiency and incompetency of our federal govt.  Not sure which is worse.

At any rate, thanks for your determination and all that you do, John.
