The Rally to Restore Sanity has come to a close, and crowd estimates are beginning to trickle in. It is clear that a huge number of people attended the event (see photos from the rally here), but the calculations vary among sources.

According to CBS News, 215,000 people showed up for the rally on Saturday. By comparison, CBS estimated that 87,000 -- just 40% of the Sanity Rally estimation -- attended Glenn Beck's "Restoring Honor" rally in August.

Canada's CTV, meanwhile, wrote that 250,000 people were estimated to have partaken in the Rally to Restore Sanity.

Earlier on Saturday, Brian Stelter tweeted that the Parks Service approximated that "well over 200,000" attended Saturday's rally.

For full coverage of the rally, check out HuffPost's comprehensive live blog of the event, including videos, photos and more.

Any fool could see the ralley for Beck was many many times your claim Aquarian. You don't fill that park along to water from the Lincoln Monument with 80,000, it takes alot more like 250,000+ to look like anything. Amazing when a cause is near and dear to someones heart, the numbers explode. Oh My, a One Million man dead bead Dad March. Oh Goodness 625,000 dead in Iraq due to the USA(when they interviewed a few hundred). 500,000 attend Gay marriage March. If its your cause, a zillion people are for it, if it isn't the March is a flop.

I am being attacked because I merely reported an estimate by the media outlets that were present there. We have to consider that both rallies metastisized to several other smaller factions across the country, even in some other parts of the world. The lowest estimate for Beck's rally was 87000, while the lowest estimate for Stewart's was 150000 (surpassing the number of permits Comedy Central was able to obtain). The highest estimate for Beck's was over 250000, while for Stewart's was also somewhere between 215000-250000. Either way, it becomes clear that members in attendance for these rallies don't necessarily reflect the nauseating platitudes of the Rally's main hosts/guests/etc. I am positive that the majority of those who decided to join the ranks of the Tea Party "movement" do not believe that Obama was born outside of the US, do not believe that there's an impending race war between Blacks and Whites, do not believe that all social programs should be gutted or eviscerated, or that no one should receive help for unemployment/disenfranchisement. I highly doubt that is the sentiment of the majority of people who attended Beck's rally. The difference though between Stewart's and Beck's rally is that Stewart's rally was straight-forward in the message it was conveying; "restoring sanity" (an obvious counter to the Beck's "restoring honor"; common among Tea Party candidates during election season); thereby, it is safe to assume that while Beck's rally attracted those who feel government has failed them, Stewart's attracted those who outright denounce every facet of the Tea Party Movement.

Di you even look at the photos of some of the libtards at this circus ?

At least Beck had a real message. unlike this farce.

You are so misinformed.... And you were trying to overstate the numbers, you know damn well CBS is dead wrong with 87,000 so stop trying to have it both ways....

Yes, and the message Beck is communicating is exactly the message that the Tea Party movement is communicating; that is, to re-introduce the Age of Mammon; an age defined by a gutting and "cutting loose" of all forms of social welfare without providing the context by which people can form an independent political movement that organizes around the idea of emancipating themselves from oppressive superstructure.

You mention the 87000 is a lie because you have been told it is a lie by demagogues and pundits, but if you re-read my post, I didn't see that Beck's rally was 87000 in a definite sense. I said that 87000 was the lowest estimate reported by the media outlets for Beck's rally.

Unfortunately people still think they can find solutions within a splinter party from an establishment party; which is exactly what the Tea Party is.

Over 600,000 people showed up for the Beck rally. Not that it matters, but anyway. I just hate to see people gloat and put up false numbers.

Yes, and the message Beck is communicating is exactly the message that the Tea Party movement is communicating;

The message from the Beck rally , was that our founding fathers built this country on the foundation of faith in God, that we were endowed by our creator (God) Not given that right from our Government, thats what we are voting against tomorrow, and I'm willing to bet that it will be an ass whooping for these progressive scum, if you're in that camp, which I'm pretty sure you are by reading this BS.
You are done , the Tea party will see to it you never get you're filthy hands on this country again...

but if you re-read my post, I didn't see that Beck's rally was 87000 in a definite sense. I said that 87000 was the lowest estimate reported by the media outlets for Beck's rally.

did you even read you're own title / it states the circus obliterated Becks numbers ! LIES !!!!!!!

Come on Tuesday !!!!! when the real change begins.
