Has anyone read a book called the "Road to Serfdom" ❓

I just got it and I can't put it down.

Man, I tell ya this book should be compulsory reading in the education system world wide.

Remember remember the fifth of November
Gunpowder, treason and plot.
I see no reason why gunpowder, treason
Should ever be forgot...

The book is a gross, overbearing, convoluted and often misguided attempt to suggest that prospective Socialist revolutions who transform their nation-states will inevitably lead to totalitarianism/dictatorships.

Well thank you very much comrade Aquarian for that brief and insightful book report.
Might I add that your new signature which exposes the evils of capitalism is an inspiration to communists everywhere. 🙄 (sarcasm intended)

Yes Joker, I've heard of this concept (if not the same book) before on another forum. It has to do with the elimination of all middle classes; right? If the middle class is eliminated, only the elite class (the rulers) and the poverty class (the ruled) will remain. This will create a de facto state of oligarchy which, in time, would evolve into monarchy. Is that right?

LOL! yeah, sure, like all of scandinavia, we see them swedes all goosestepping. wait maybe switzerland. ( we COULD call them capatalist, with OTHER peoples money, but to their OWN, they are pure socialist. ( with compulsory military service)
free west germany has a bigger and better social system than E germany. and the transition has been painful. then there's all the immigrants. all over europe, busting the system. communist china, ( and let us remember, they ARE communist, and communist korea, cannot sustain their social systems, korea has boken completely, and china has told every one to go capatalist. BUT it's a chinese system. and is run by communists. ( more free and equal at the top i guess.)
so, i suppose the righties want a system where they are fugged downwards, ( trickle down) righties always do want a father figure. they feel comfortable being told what to do. everyone marching in lock step.
strange.

It's a rare sighting of evutch , me VP!!

So how's the grass over in Holland this time of year? Did you get anything constructive done or just use the expense account to party everyday from dusk till dawn? Laugh It's hard to find good help these days. 😛

That's probably why most people into S&M in the bedroom are registered Republicans, huh? Of course they want the party line lock step...as did Castro and Che; as do Democrats; as with, presumably, the tea party movement. Division is what weakens the movement; no?

Gud,

I've caught myself staring at your avatar about 12 times since I've seen it. It's...interesting Laugh Anyways, kudos.

It's interesting you mention this considering that there is a war being relentlessly waged against the working-class citizens of not just the US, but the world. Rapacious globalization, rapid privatization, the financial elite's power and the concentration of wealth among the top 1-3%, etc. are all signs of how feudalism is still thriving. This economic downturn of global proportions we're experiencing right now is testimony to the fallacious system that is Capitalism. It has gone through these "cycles" before. How is it safeguarded? Because the political establishment safeguards it. They bail out the rich banks. They bail out Wall Street. And Main Street? They argue about whether or not they're "spoiling us too much" with unemployment compensation 🙄

Yes, It is indeed about the elimination of the Middle Classes worldwide that is why I think it is imperative that everyone who loves his/her freedom get a copy and read it because surely we will become totally enslaved.
