save the koalas ...open the letter and sign it with a comment..

Target: Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard
Sponsored by: Care2.com
Chlamydia isn't just an embarrassing subject, it's an epidemic threatening an entire species with extinction.

In Australia's koalas, chlamydia causes respiratory infections, incontinence, pink eye and a number of other side effects, most notably, infertility. Chlamydia has left up to 40 percent of female koalas infertile, making the species vulnerable to extinction in as quickly as 30 years. Scientists estimate that there could be less than 43,000 koalas left in Australia today.

Under current Australian law, protecting koalas is up to the individual states. With koalas facing threats from chlamydia, human development and climate change, the Australian government should make this a federal issue.

Tell the Australian Prime Minister to classify koalas as vulnerable

They are cute little critters to look at and see, but in Austrialia are they considered a pest of varment like a possum or rodents on a farm?

I don't think so Greeney,

Since they only eat one food source I doubt they are considered vermin? I'm not sure though. Maybe Chiz can be more specific on that?

Aquarian just signed a petition to have koala bears exterminated, to end the plight of the poor eucalyptus trees.

Last I heard, he was down under, chained to a eucalyptus tree, surrounded by angry koala bears carrying torches and frothing at the mouth.

We may not hear from our hero aquarian again. 🙁

I'll sign your petition, chisel

The support is encouraging thanks you guys.. :geek:

doers v's talkers ?
The world will survive much like evolution works and she only needs the doers to do that..like yourself, frrostedman,The joker ect..
The talkers have no voice ironically, in such matters..

btw..they are not considered pests in australia, they are actually threatened by increased suburban growth and will be in danger down the road shortly.Their method of moving around using the trees is a problem for them because of all the reasons you can think of to do with domestic growth.
In a sanctuary they thrive like on christmas island ,put there by a pest (foolish people)they are now considered to be one due to the easy habitability of the place..
