Hello all.

This is difficult to say.

As most of you know my wife is from Mexico. There are 2 rival drug cartels that are the most powerful in Mexico. The "Cartel Del Golfo" and "Los Zetas" (pronounced say-tahs).

Long story short, Los Zetas are mostly the ones doing the horrific crimes like beheadings and mass killings. They have also taken credit for the killing of the American on the jet ski a while back. They in my opinion are the most evil, cold hearted, ruthless group of men in the entire world, bar none.

Well my wife's cousin, a 26 year old boy, grew up getting into trouble and many years ago was sort of ostricized from the family because he was stealing from them to get drug money. Although the family has shunned him, being Hispanic they of course still love and care for him. Well, he got mixed up with the wrong people, committting some small time crimes and doing drugs and... the Zetas have recruited him. He warmed up to it at first but then got cold feet and tried to get out. They told him if he didn't remain with them, they would wipe out his whole family (my wife's immediate family possibly included). So he agreed to give them his allegiance. I don't know from who but my wife's family just got word that this guy was taken to a remote city, stripped of all his belongings, no money, no cell phone, no contact with anyone. And they are going to "train" him through abuse and other means, to be tough, emotionless, cold, and ruthless.

The family is devastated. My wife has been in crying all night, skyping with the family who are all also in tears.

So that's the situation. I, we, are totally helpless. All I can do is offer our place as a refuge for any family members who want to get out of Mexico and move in with us. Apart from that there is nothing that can be done but pray.

So any of you that feel inclined, I would really appreciate your thoughts and prayers. It seems completely impossible that this guy is going to get away from the Zetas alive, and be back with this family but obviously God could make that happen. It's what I'm praying for, anyway.

Thanks for listening. I told my wife I'd "put the word out" to friends including internet friends, and see about getting as many people to pray for us as possible.

This world is nuts.

That's a tuff situation Tom ,

But as you know the way we are right now in this country , there aren't too many people sympathetic to his plight. We are angry as it is with Illegals, let alone one who has been thrown into one of the most evil gangs on the planet.

I'm afraid he's going to be forced to play ball with them , and he will probably end up dead, or worse , killing innocent people.

My thougths go out to you ,and you're family...I wish you all luck...

Is there any way you could go talk to you're local law enforecment , and see if they may be able to help, with witness protection , or some form of protection for them ?

Tom, Bloodstone is right, I'm afraid this cousin may end up with a bad end, or if not end up a part of what is going on, meaning all the bad things. My guess is he already is part of it, and for all you know has done some of the horrors we read about. You probably know him as a good kid who got himself caught up with bad things, but when you get in that deep, you seal your fate.

Your first Duty is to your wife, and keeping her safe. As hard as it is, and how much you are attached to her family, you need to keep your distance for a while until this thing plays out. I do feel for you and your wife. I'm sure she loves and cares for him, but this may be just one you can't do much about, except Pray for him. Don't be unrealistic about how good you may think he may be, in some degree he is a victim of getting himself in too deep. However, to the many victims of the things these gangs do, he is one of them. Sorry to sound harsh about it.

How scary and heartbreaking.
I agree that you need to lie low and keep your ditance..get off their radar as much as you can.

I will pray for mercy protection for you and yours.

Hopefully your wife's cousin will land up a lower level member, at most. "muscle" when needed.
Just doing his thing and not rocking the boat. That would be safest for all concerned.

Like all gangs Bionic, they inititate you with you doing something really bad, a test of loyalty so you are hooked for life, and forever linked to a really bad act. Many times a murder, which could be what the Jet Ski Murder was all about, an initiation for no good reason. Gangs in LA would make someone do a senseless drive by shooting, of a totally innocent person. Once you are in the culture, its next to impossible to get out, at almost any level.

That's heartbreaking.

I hope for the best possible outcome.

Of course I'll say some prayers for him, you and your wife's family Tom.

btw, on a separate note, are you the TOM of the old bv, tarsustom???

Dawkins thinks belief in God is an excuse to evade thinking in the scientific world. Sadly, he is ignorant to the list of christian scientists who have contributed & founded many of the sciences he himself believes in. How ironic.
