This is the real symbol of the start of summer for most of us. May is the most eventful of Months for many things we celebrate or enjoy. The month starts out with the Kentucky Derby, which doesn't get much more American than that, and we finish up with Memorial Day weekend. In between, are a few other pretty important events, like the 2nd race of the triple crown, The Preakness. The biggest of all events for everyone is of course, Mother's Day. The grand daddy of all races the Indy 500 compares to no other race, and is a symbol of so many things. It is not only a symbol of the great auto industry of the last century, but the ultimate symbol of our freedom to me. Equal in stature only to things like the World Series, The Super Bowl, The Rose Parade, and events that are 2nd to none. Millions will tune in and watch the race this weekend, and fire up the BBQ with an ice cold beer, and freedom doesn't get better than that. Millions more will be enjoying a campfire someplace in America, catching a few fish, counting shooting stars from a sleeping bag. Millions more may just be cutting the grass, planting gardens, and just enjoying their yards. Millions will flock to the beaches, attend some get togather with friends or family, meet at the park for a game of softball. Anyway you cut it, a country of 300 million people will be celebrating FREEDOM, anyway they want to. Free to do nothing, free to do anything, free to dress in formal cloths or free to wear shorts and a tee-shirt. Free to have a steak and Lobster, or free to have a hot dog or hamburger.

These are the things our veterans have faught for and this weekend we remember all those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for these things we enjoy. It is not just the big things I mentioned and the holidays, its the everyday things we have, everyday and every minute of our lives. Most things are not measured in the big things in life, most are measured by the little things, and those little things that are the straw that broke the camels back, going too far. The famous words of Elvis's famous song. "You can knock me down, Step all over my face, but whatever you do, don't step on my Blue Suade shoes". In other words, Americans will take a lot, but when you go too far, Americans will fight to the death FOR ALL THE LITTLE THINGS. Americans will never stand for the kind of oppression, that would think to take away the simple right to have a hot dog at the ball game. Put on a bathing suit and take a swim! Hold hands with your sweetheart! Say the Pledge of Allegance! Say Grace!

These are just some of the simple things those we remember this weekend want for us, and we celebrate them in grand form this weekend, hearing the words, "Drivers, Start your engines". Listen to the words of "Back Home in Indiana" this year, and think what they mean, and who made them possible. Enjoy that little Hot Dog, like it was the best meal you ever ate. Take a moment to reflect on your own life, and how these fallen Americans have affected your life.

We must always remember to remember and honor our soldiers and their families.
They fight for us all.
They are our heros.

Willie Wonka quotes..
What is this Wonka, some kind of funhouse?
Why? Are you having fun?
A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men.
We are the music makers, we are the dreamers of dreams

here's a meme for my fellow Earhtlings

never surrender..love your planet, love each other..love the beautiful universe

be good to yourselves, be good to each other

honor your soldiers and never forget them..they are always and will always be fighting for you
fight or yourselves, too
you are soldiers, too
We are all in a war for our own survival..one we simply must win..make it to the next step, we will

Listened to it on the Radio, out back next to the smoker.............had the turbo fan going to keep the mosquito's and flies away.

Like the Old days when I used to listen to Vince Scully with my Dad. No body can call a game like Vince------------Mike Shannon is decent...............yes I listened to the Cards and Rockies after the race.

Lucky Dan Weldon.............Just a really dumb move by the Kid!

Anyway.................90 plus degrees yesterday, less than a week after the daytime high was 57 degrees. 😯 😯

Welcome!

Cole
