Lindsay Lohan in custody, headed for jail
Updated: 07/20/2010 09:00:48 AM PDT
The handcuffs are on Lindsay Lohan as she begins her jail sentence for a probation violation.
The actress surrendered at a Beverly Hills courthouse Tuesday morning, arriving about eight minutes late for the scheduled sentencing hearing. Beverly Hills Superior Court Judge Marsha Revel remanded her into custody and ordered that no photographs or video be taken of Lohan being handcuffed.
Revel determined two weeks ago that the "Mean Girls" star violated her probation by missing seven alcohol education classes since December.
She has been sentenced to 90 days in jail and three months in rehab. However, she is likely to serve only 25 percent of the sentence because of overcrowding at the Los Angeles County's jail. Lohan could also receive good-time credit.
Lohan will serve her time at the Century Regional Detention Center in Lynwood, where Paris Hilton served 23 days for violating probation in an alcohol-related reckless driving case in 2007.

The shame is only because the jails are so overcrowded with violent criminals, they are letting non-violent offences out very early, the reason she is only serving 14 of her 90 days. Only becasue the judge ordered the jail to not allow house arrest, is she in that cell. She would probably been given house confinment by the Sheriff Dept., if the Judge did not order them to keep her. We cannot even get a handle on violent crime its so widespread, that crimes like LL are plea bargained, to lesser crimes or pleas for lienient sentences, so we wonder why crime is on the rise, and we read everyday about someone dead, from a repeat DUI offender. Lindsey Lohan got attention because she is famous, but she is on that path to someday killing someone else and/or herself. Thank the Lawyers, for their efforts to get these people off the hook, and hazzards to the rest of us.
