A little FYI for those BV's members in her path, or near to her path. Take her seriously, even if she stays a bit off shore. Her winds will reach far inland. Any large Trees with big canopies, are at extreme risk. There will be many downed which will take along many utility poles. Sadly despite a week's worth of warning, she will kill................the numbers will be determined only by those person in her path, how safe you decide to play it, how aware you are of persistent 50 plus mph winds.... They will blow for hours-------------usually 8-12...

With all the rain some portions of the East coast have had these past few weeks, that is plenty of wind to down a few hundred thousand trees.................Millions------------will receive some sort of damage.

My area is near to 900 miles from the gulf...............IKE came thru here in 08...a direct hit. He hooked up with a cold front and the convergence was ridiculous----------50 mph--60 mph gusts for 8 full hours......sustained winds...........our power was out for over a week..............It was worse in Louisville..............many downed trees and power out for 9 days..........he claimed lives hundreds of miles from his initial landfall...I suspect that Irene riding the coast, or near coast.............may end up with a high and completely unnecessary body count...please be very careful.

These things are nothing to toy around with! Unless of course you're some warped and twisted thrill seeker, which I suppose, is absolutely your business...............but take heed........that sort of stuff can get or severely injured or even killed.

Most danger is said to be Far Eastern most North Carolina/outter banks.. I thought Billy was a South Carolina Rebel yelling Snipe hunter. Laugh Laugh If he's near the coast, yep he can have some serious issues.............mostly persistent 50-60 mph winds--sustained for hours on end.

Anyway..............did you happen to see the Interview with the female tourists? The kind I seem to bump into on a daily basis..

She said that she heard that it's beautiful once a Hurricane has passed over, so when it's bad and they can't go to the beach, they'll just go shopping! 😮

I'll go on record right now..............if it's a cat 3 when it makes landfall ( if it makes landfall ) It'll will kill some, if not many, of the types of people quoted above.

Here's a current Sat view of Irene.

Clounds/outer bands already affecting the Carolina Coastal regions.

We had a few idiots like that out here when the Japanese Tunami hit the west coast. Standing on the beaches and the water clearing exposed areas or rocks within mintutes. People walked right out into it, with people yelling the water will surge back in. Luckily, it was not like Japan, but even the Ventura harbor inlet, showed the water action and small whirlpools by the opposing water. Further North in Santa Cruz, it really damaged the harbor. Standing out on this Florida pier was just idiotic. Someone has to risk their lives resueing fools like this when they are very busy and its very avoidable. The should be billed for this and made to pay every dime.

Let us know how you are Billy. From the looks of the map above, you must be in it right now.

Hunkered down here on the Chesapeake Bay. Have made as many preparations as I could have thought to do. Worried about my parents across town. I have a generator to take to them when it settles down. Mom has medicines which need refridgeration but they can stay on ice for the time being.

Expect the electricity to go out any time now...Have ham radio up and battery back up as well as home made emergency antennas and the fishing polt to hoist them up into the trees.

Watching the wing bow the trees out the window. The main wind has not gotten here as of yet.

Another hour or two will tell.

Standing by and hunkering down.

That far north what are the wind speeds estimated to be at that point? The rain I've herd can be up to 8" or more.

Just found out our neighbors grandaughter got married to a Marine and live on a Marine base in NC that is only 5 miles from the coast. Not sure which base it is, but sure they have save places to hold up inside of.

Soon as you get back up give us a report. It would be nice to have an honest assessment absent the plastic blond hype which gets spoon fed to the masses. She was bad enough without the constant jawing from the Media..

Last I heard the death toll was 14.................I'm sure more were lost in Vermont and New Hampshire due to flash flooding...........Lots of chainsaws will be humming away for months to come.....

I've got much to say on this topic, much to say. One would be in regard to Bloomberg........What a Clown this guy is..A Prop in a Psy-Fi flick has more personality than this guy does...............JMHO---But a real.............not sure what to call him.

The Weather Channel crew changed fear tactics once it proved to have weakened more than expected..........that wasn't cool, I found it embarrassing.........just give the facts, warn about the flooding, leave the carnival atmosphere to the usual clowns like Shep Smith..

ALL MY PERSONAL OPINION/OBSERVATION..
