It seems to have broken here in my area, I'm grateful ( knock on wood ) to have missed the 5 inch per 20 minute rain storms, and the last few 80 mph wind events that slipped by to our North. We could actually use some rain about now... 😮
Soon I'll be making the first pot of Homemade chili.............and raking leaves..............not long after the shoveling of snow will begin and not soon enough for either in my book. 😉
I need to post a pic or two of the wood I've split..............impressive...White Oak out the arse. I've 9 big chunks left to go..which will get split on Wednesday regardless of temperature, rain, wind or anything other than a broken arm or leg.
I split a full cord in 100 plus degree heat...........I'm completely used to it as a result, feel great, feel whole again.........
Had an old timer pull down my neighbors drive and ask if I wanted to sell a rick or two of the Oak........ I just laughed and said...........after splitting it in this heat there's little chance you'd pay me it's full worth............I said no.........I think I'll keep it till next Winter.......
There's just something about a chainsaw and an axe that seems to drive some men crazy and arouse others..............amazing if you ask me.
If you really want to meet your male neighbor just go buy a mid series Stihl and fire it up.........If they're anything like the men around here they'll come a runnin.

I wonder if this years record heat has the makings for another dust bowl in Oklahoma like the depression years? Last year California was in a drout, now we have record water in the Serria's. All the falls are really full this year, as noticed in the Yosemine record drownings. Go figure, they raised the rates with the drouts, but don't expect them to go down with record snow pack.

Dust bowl revisited...good point...I think in some spots down there it's well on it's way to that very thing..........the high pressure system has so far refused to budge, but by looking at the data that is about to change for North Texas and Oklahoma----------looks like they should see some rain and cooler temps, but it has been very very hot in that region even since Late May early June------
As for me..I'd rather be outdoors than indoors any day of the week.............being outdoors is uplifting, not to mention healthy for mind, body, and spirit.
There is a great picture of the snow pack in the Rockies..............I'll dig it up and post it....it shows just how deep it really was, I guess it still is in some locations. The web cams in RMNP still show lots of snow on the divide------------three to four times as much as when I was last there in 06-07-----------soon it will start snowing there again-------in less than a month of so. 😮 Crazy stuff...............this years weather.
Here's a good pic of Trail Ridge Road in RMNP..Taken 13 May 2011..
The blog says it snowed many more times after this was taken.........keeping the road closed to traffic until late June early July.. 😮
