I was hoping you could all help me out.

I am compiling a list of "news" websites that often post stories that are obvious fakes. For example, BeforeItsNews.com posts ridiculous information that often goes viral for no apparent reason.

Please post your sites that you avoid here on this thread - with an example or two of why you think they deserve to be on the "do not trust" list.  I'll be publishing the compiled list later on.

Sincerely,

I would be interested to see what comes up on this list too.  I know on other forums (ya'll people here are well educated on sources) people think if they found it on the internet it supports their side of the debate despite the source.  I know a big argument is usually how reliable wikipedia is, but I've heard others denounce Onion and Huffington post.  I usually stay out of participating in mostly social and political debates as people get a bit heated in other parts of the internet.  But it is defiantly interesting to observe.  Not only should one have to defend their side if they want to debate, their source should have to be defended too.

Not sure I can name names, but along this subject of false or fake articles, is a much bigger problem.  So many of these stories get passed along, repeated, and end up world wide in no time.  Many or most times some wild theory, of "Look what I see" with a picture of something included. With so many photoshopped and altered pictures, they are used from everything from moon hoaxes to Thermite in the WTC.

I wonder if you even tried, if anyone could find and know they have a untouched or unaltered picture,  of just about anything anymore. It amounts to an incurable  virus, where searches will just find altered photoshopped images becasue they have been passed so many times.  Those fake pictures only lend to more and more versions of stories that go with them.

In short, the internet has a real lack of credibility, and it only gets worse.  10 people pass on a story, tweek it a little, and it becomes Gospel.  In  our old days here the War forum was a perfect example of complete lies, one after another.  You could not keep up with them.

That's a really good point too greeney.  I know a time before the internet and photo manipulation and all that.  When news was really news and not gossip, and news casters had to have credible sources for their claims.

What truly is real anymore?  Can anyone tell anymore?

As far as the list, sorry, nothing springs to mind but the rense website which I've seen some people question before; just don't hang out in those places.  But, if you want to include seemingly useless media outlets, I offer the big three nightly news(ABC, NBC, CBS).  What they don't let you see is just as detrimental to information dissemination as the easily perceptible red slant of Fox News.  Maybe it really is just a big ole show.  I don't know about yall, but I'm about tired of being mushroomed all the time.

I don't think theonion is as much a hoax site as satirical commentary on modern society, that's just what they are and make no claim otherwise.  The huffingtonpost is a legit news site, imo; I disagree with much of their opinion but their journalistic integrity has never been in question.

I would offer the UK's BBC.

The reason?

There are many.

Here's one reason that concerns America and 9/11 and so may be of more interest to the international community.

Need I say more?

This is a very gray area since most of the free press is now obviously controlled. Most all are owned by a select few with ties to powerful forces capable of doing as they wish. Most all MSM news releases are agenda based or slanted one way or another...fake, paints with a very broad brush.

It's like this: Snowden.....real, fake, or still active?

In my opinion? Snowden was put up to do what he did. He is a plant.

John Greenwald,

ABC

CBS

MSNBC...aka...MessNBC

CNN....Aka....Chicken Noodle News.

BBC

NBC

Fox News....aka...Faux News

and the list goes on and on.

John..I learned a new word and concept this year...the word is  Gaslighting.

The word comes from a 1940s era movie in which a man tries to convince his wife that she is insane...by messing with the gas lighting in their home. He keeps privily dimming the lights and she says they are dim but he keeps telling her she is imagining something is wrong with them.

Well..John...if you know how and why some things happen ...you can see the media gaslighting us on so many issues.

Walter Cronkite was quoted many years ago in a interview that he was not reporting the news ..he was an opinion maker. This has been confirmed about the major networks for many years.

This became obvious..nakedly obvious back with the Monica Lewinski scandal where  most of the media was hesitant to report on it as more and more came out about the very nature of what was going on in order to protect Bill and Hillary.

IN order not to report news..but still sway public opinion...the public was inundated not with information...but with polls...over and over, day in and day out...even nightly into the middle of the night. All the networks were doing this. As soon as the crisis died out...do too did most of the polls.

This is what convinced me that the media in this country ...just like the political parties...is not the product advertised...all of them.

It became quite clear that the polls were not being used to report news..but to sway public opinion...

People were telling me back in the 1970s that CNN was a phony counterfeit news station. They were calling it Chicken Noodle News. And time was to bear them out as correct.

I can remember way back when the National Enquirer was reporting a news story and all the so called main stream news outlets would not touch it..The enquirer turned out to be correct.

It is not just "Before It's News...but all of them John.

John....When story broke the news that the North Koreans had sortied 50 submarines..I had to bust out laughing.

Now having worked on both the 688 class and also the Virginia class submarine program...I had to laugh..because I know that we have a difficult time keeping 50 submarines out to sea at any one time.

If the North Koreans had sortied 50 even olde diesel class boats out to sea...they were band aided and bubble gummed together.

You don't get submarine parts ..even olde diesel submarine parts down at lowes or auto zone. That is just not going to cut it.

But the news media just gobbled this one up..all across the web and in the daily news papers...no thinking required.

Not me ..I knew someone here was lying and deceiving the US people on this one. We were being gaslighted by our own media...all of them...our leadership too.

The media here was just robotically repeating the lies and deceit they were being fed from the government.

Before it's News does have some weird stuff..but unless you know how it is done..gaslighting ...the rest of the so called..main stream media does too.

John,

As I recall...though it has been so many years ago...the story the National Enquirer broke and for which the main stream media knew but wanted to avoid...was about an affair between an Intern an the President of the United States.

This story took some time to break into the Main Stream Media because most of them wanted to avoid and not cover the story. They wanted to protect the President and their holy of holies. Holy ground Highlander.

But when this story finally broke it became a flood and could not....not be covered by most of the media without losing great credibility with the public. But it was broken in the news by one of the so called Hoax rags.

When one begins to understand this about the Main Stream Media...and how they are want to steer the news...it puts new light on the concept of Hoax media sites.

Any item which promotes itself with a lot of flash and bling is not necessarily the real thing. It can often be a counterfeit...and one needs have the ability to see underneath the rug...not just on top of it.

When you understand that the story was so big...that it could not ..not be covered...you will then understand the importance of polling results to steer and direct the news..public opinion...as a crisis management technique for political parties...in crisis.

I remember this because you could not get on the radio or television all day and night long without being bombarded with the latest polling results. No real news but mostly what the polls were showing. It got very tiring after awhile..of more polls after more polls..after more polls.

And once the crisis was over..the polls died out.

I agree with what Cole Trickle stated above...and add...

Add that many people have found ways around most of the Main Stream Media via the internet..and are now decoding the news for themselves. They are also talking amongst each other and exchanging news and informations.

I believe our own Government via Snowden and others over the years..is alarmed by this and want to shut down or heavily regulate..ie...censor the internet.

Da...Tovarich??
