Well it looks as if this is going to finally pass sometime late tonight and frankly I'm pretty happy about it. I can already guess how this will play out with most of the board, but like you guys say, if you don't like this country, be like Rush and leave! One thing I'll never understand is, when something is done for the middle class and lower income families it's bad, but when a President enacts tax cuts for the top 2% in the country, the Republicans cheer, why? So they can go out and buy more sports cars while the rest of us have to work our asses off and barely get by?

What do most of you think about this? It's pretty historic and I'm glad that the House will pass it! One last question I want to ask is, how many people here have had to fight through a pre-existing condition? I had to last year, when I was getting severe headaches and wanted to have CT Scans and MRIs to make sure nothing serious was the cause of it and luckily for me, there wasn't but had to fight a pre-existing condition since I went to the doctor when I was laid off last March due to a bad sinus infection. So I had to pay back $400 through Cobra just to get an MRI appointment so I wouldn't have to pay $5000 out of pocket, instead I only had to pay $1200, and some of you have the audacity to say there's nothing wrong with our current system? Or are most of you like the protesters making fun of someone with parkensons who wants the bill to pass because he can't afford treatments? Must be nice to have money!

WASHINGTON – A leading Democratic abortion foe in the House says he has reached agreement with the White House and party leaders to make sure health care legislation does not permit the use of federal funds for elective abortions.

Rep. Bart Stupak of Michigan said Sunday the agreement means he can now support a health care bill headed for a vote on the House floor later Sunday.

Six other Democrats joined Stupak at a news conference, called minutes after the White House issued the text of an executive order that will carry out the agreement.

Frankly, even though I'm a liberal Democrat, I'm glad this will be enforced! If you can't take the responsibilities for your own actions, you shouldn't be able to take the easy way out. On the other hand, if it's something like rape, then women should have the option for an abortion since it's not their own fault.

Oh good.

Now I'll be forced to pay for Health Care whether I can or not. I'll even go to jail if I decide not to! Yaaaaaay freedom! 🙄

You should have to pay for it. If you don't someone else will. This is freedom.

I'd like to know just how they could force anyone to buy something, if they don't have the money to begin with? I'd also like to know how they are going to tell insurance companies what the rates will be? Regardless of what Washington says they will make the insurance companies and the citizen do, how are you going to make the providers accept what they pay?

Nothing is going to change the fact the doctors and hospitals tell the patient, they are responable for the bill and any balance the insurance company does not cover. Unless they are plan providers, they are not obligated to reduce charges that limit them to contracted rates. Most of them now refuse to take the state plans like Medical in California, and many are refusing to take on new medicare patients.

This bill is 1000 pages long, and probably so full of insurance company loopholes, it will be in the courts for years appealing problems.

it passed huh?
hmm
let's see how it plays out...
could be great...could be awful

I thought the 'forced insured' part was taken out of the bill?
(making it illegal to NOT have soem kind fo coverage)
It's still in there?

Hope it works, because if it doesn't we're about ready to run out of S**t Creek and fall off Doomed Waterfall.

If the yardstick of how great it will be is the results of the bailout fiasco, and cash for clunkers program, good luck.

Yeah ..well..honestly..we're all so out of cash..I just wonde rhow this is gonna ge tpain for..and I for one still womnder baout stuff like, "death panels", and ofrced diets and vaccinations and such

I find it awfully convenient that, all of a sudden, yearly mmmaograms and pap-smears and colonoscopies have been made redundant..ooh..just before this all went through..as if it were done in anticipation of it all..it's a slippery slope. ("sorry..you don't qulaify for this life saving med, or test, or operation/treatment"..though that is happening anyways these days..due to those good ol' HMO's)

also...
I am left wondering what a "doomed waterfall" might look like.
I mean, it'd take A-LOT to f up a waterfall...lol
waterfalls are inherently..pretty

Instead of water, fire. Instead of rocks below, spears. Instead of lush green scenery, a bunch of angry wolves and bears ready to jump and maul you should you reach the shore.
