Wow! how ironic and tragic is this?
This will be a example used for every helmet law. When I was a street rider, they had no helmet laws, but when I rode in the desert or was racing, I never rode without it.
I was a service mangager for 12 years in the motorcycle business, and have seen everything regarding injuries. One man wanted to buy a CHEAP helmet for his kid and the minibike, becasue he didn;t ride that fast. I said OK, put you hands by your side, and as fast and hard as you can, smash your face nose first right on the counter. I told him at the most that might be 3 MPH. He got the point without slamming his face on the counter.
I would write a book alone about injuries saved by a helmet, it all my collision work we did, not to mention desert racing.
NY motorcyclist dies on ride protesting helmet law
AP – 1 hr 50 mins agotweet70EmailPrintONONDAGA, N.Y. (AP) — Police say a motorcyclist participating in a protest ride against helmet laws in upstate New York died after he flipped over the bike's handlebars and hit his head on the pavement.
The accident happened Saturday afternoon in the town of Onondaga, in central New York near Syracuse.
State troopers tell The Post-Standard of Syracuse that 55-year-old Philip A. Contos of Parish, N.Y., was driving a 1983 Harley Davidson with a group of bikers who were protesting helmet laws by not wearing helmets.
Troopers say Contos hit his brakes and the motorcycle fishtailed. The bike spun out of control, and Contos toppled over the handlebars. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.
Troopers say Contos would have likely survived if he had been wearing a helmet.

I told my wife and she giggled but immediately felt guilty for it. Extreme, harsh, poetic justice.
I agree, it does look kind of cool I guess to ride a motorcylce without a helmet but honestly I think helmets can look even more cool.
Either way it should be law in all states to wear a helmet... just like it's law to wear a seatbelt in a car.
