We are all familiar with the American dream and, often enough, it doesn't come true leading to disillusionment and depression. How would you feel if you had to settle for a life you think is inferior to the American dream.

For example, would you trade away your happiness for quasi-omnipotence? You could do anything you want except use your power to make you happy.
Power or happiness. Which do you choose?

In other words, exactly how important is happiness to you?

If you could have a trillion dollars or assured happiness, which do you choose?
etc.

Somewhere the formula of happiness and money meet. Not everyone happy is broke, and not everyone with money are unhappy. Money may only mean power to some, but it doesn;t mean that power can not be used for good things, which should also create happiness. Bottom line is rich or poor, happiness is a choice in life, that does not require money.

Yep.

Sounds like you would choose assured happiness over power and money.

A lot of people would choose differently.

Its a choice that nobody really gets to make, as in "trading one for another". People live within their lifestyle, and the lifestyle usually just gets more expensive, as the money gets bigger. Setting your priorieties is something you do regardless of money.

Their are many things in life that have nothing to do with money, that either make or break happiness, more so than money issues actually. Most matters of unhappiness or happiness are things where money is not a factor at all.

It's a hypothetical question.
If you had to choose between money or assured happiness what would you choose, is the question.

It's like asking whether you'd rather be deaf or blind and you're telling me that most people can see and hear.

So why are you putting words in my mouth about what you think I decide? Its a hypothetical question that can not realistically ever be made,so its a ridiculas question. Deafness and blindness are not a choice at all, but happiness is a choice you take. Money is also a choice, given its your own path in life, if you choose to do nothing about it, or do something about it. Unless you inherit some large fortune, many wealthy people made a choice to be productive, invented something and marketed it, and worked for achieving great levels in their profession. Those are choices, and along with other choices in life, is happiness. If you want to dwell in depression and self pity, thats a choice, and it doesn;t matter if you are a bum or Bill Gates.

Willie Wonka quotes..
What is this Wonka, some kind of funhouse?
Why? Are you having fun?
A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men.
We are the music makers, we are the dreamers of dreams
