Last night I heard a horrible story, and all you need to do is consider how many times have you enjoyed your child walking on the beach in the sand and having the waves hit their feet. And now think how many times you have agreed drug addiction is just a disease, we must have compassion and caring, to get the poor people help?
Last night in the new was a story of a woman walking on Santa Monica beach, and she stepped on a hypodermic needle in the sand, puncturing her foot. One little stick, and her life has changed maybe forever. Not thinking the husband pulled the needle out and threw it away, unfortunately because it could have had DNA or traceable residue on it. The woman is now bedridden and will be in the hospital for quite some time, over a month with special IV's, and a long treatment, and months ahead to wait to be tested she may have contracted HIV or other diseases. Horrify, horrible, and a fate nobody would wish on anyone, her life is forever turned upside down, and will forever fear the timebomb, that needle could have altered her life into a terminal condition. JUST BECAUSE SHE TOOK A WALK ON THE BEACH, NEAR THE SANTA MONICA PIER. Now imagine that could have been your child's first time seeing the ocean. Still feel sorry for that fool who threw his needle in the sand???
So we are indoctrinated into addiction is just a disease, as if somehow forces make you to do these things, be an alcoholic, or shoot drugs with a needle. Excuse after excuse, its a sickness. It turns out the number of discarded needles were strewn all over the beach, and that places in the city are riddled with old needles. A homeless encampment in Orange county, during clean up, thousands and thousands of needles were all over the place, human waste and feces. This poor lady just happened to be the unlucky one to step on one of their needles, but we should have compassion for the poor addict, who could are less about anyone else. I hate to tell you what I would do the SOB whose needle ended up in my wifes foot.
We have been breeding a out of control drug culture, and this is the result. We curse the President for wanting to stop drug flow over the borders. San Francisco thinks their policy to give clean needles out is a good idea, but they have streets so riddled with used needles its a major hazard.
I'm not sure where all the bleeding hearts are for this woman right now, they are probably handing out needles in a free clinic someplace, while this family will go thru hell not to mention financial ruin with the bills that this will make.
We cry about those in prison for just harmless personal drug use, like it is a travesty, but this fool who tossed his needle in the sand is one of them, oh I forgot he just has a disease. But it isn't just this one person with a disease, there are thousands and thousands just like him all over just California, just count the needles on the ground, and tell that woman on Santa Monica beach how sorry you feel for them. Yet we excuse it all as just a disease, including these despicable acts of knowing some child might step on his needle.
I'm sorry, but enough is enough, bad enough it was some child mother, thank God is was not some child. Sorry about getting on a soapbox, but this really got to me watching the news last night.
