DON'T BUY TOSHIBA PRODUCTS !!!!

I bought a Toshiba Laptop on Sale for $400.00. The Manufacturers Warranty came with it.
Back in early June it caught fire through no fault of my own and was advised by the Store where I purchased told me I had to contact Toshiba to arrange service and/or repair/replacement/refund for it.
After 2 and a half weeks of beating my head against the wall with their Customer Service Department, They finally had someone in Corporate send me a Free FEDEX Label to ship it back to their Repair Depot in California.
Today I recieved a Phone Call from a Julia in Corporate who stated that the Damage was "sniff' external and therefore would not be covered under warranty. When I tried to explain to her that I did nothing to cause external damage she tersely said to read my warranty and hung up.
Needless to say I am rather irate and am in the process of contacting the BBB and other parties to get this resolved.
If Anyone on TBV haS any further suggestions short of flying out to California and smacking each and every Toshiba Corporate Suite I come across at their HQ, I would greatly appreciate it

What store did you buy it from, and why wouldn't they help you?

What caught on fire, and what did they mean by external damage not covered. Fire doesn't start from plastic, it starts from electical failure. What part of the warrenty referred to what she was talking about?

See if you can find any consumer information on problems related to this model. Sounds real lucky that something like your house burning down didn't get casued by any fire.

well down my way its not illegal to verbally threaten people, short of actually doing it,you can pretty much say anything you like without persecution

Heh...I haven't bought anything marked 'Toshiba' since they sold us out to the Soviet Union.

It was Toshiba that sold the technology to operate the 6-axis milling machines used by the US Navy to make those ultra-quiet propellers our submarines use.

if you can do it then why not give it your best shot..use CA to drill toshiba..my personal record for a claim against a company is a 2 year hounding..i hounded them for 2 years with phone calls, letters, and mostly patience..lots of it.i almost had them in court when the guttles phoney wonder who was backing me pulled out ,he was one i thought i could trust but even though he knew i had worked so hard on this,he still threw it in..it threw the case because by then i had come so close to getting my blood,i had to let it go..I was done ,it was driving me nuts..there is always light at the end of every tunnel though...When one door closes another opens,i'll have my day outta court instead,in a non violent way...nuf said..

its hard work, but it has its rewards..
