I'm in a rut!

I can't install anything (almost anything) from sites like Skype, Oovoo, Google Chrome, Windows Silverlight, etc., etc. because it claims I don't have permissions/privileges...yet, I'm an Admin of my own laptop...WTF

More than likely you've gotten yourself an infected file in the registry. The easiest thing to do is simply reset the PC to an earlier time and date. One not savvy enough best not venture into the registry, less you want to put her down for the count.

Isolating those things are a time consuming pain in the arse, and even then usually coded to deny any commands that would solve the problem--aside from a complete kernel dump--your best option.

If you can, download CCleaner if it's a registry thing, though I somehow doubt that it is. Are you using Vista?

Windows 7 Home Premium 👿

I tried "running as admin" when I download the file I intend to install onto the desktop...that's not successful either.

Thanks John, I'll take a look at that more in-depth, but looking through the thread, I don't appear to have those problems related to installing programs and password protection. Still, I opened the MMC and all I get is a Console Root with no additional information. Almost like a toolbox. LOL.

This is crazy. I was also researching the net and it appears the "unable to install any program on windows 7" is a relatively new problem....No one seems to have any solution other than to re-install Windows 7 altogether 😕

That's your problem, that is a virus disguised as an OS. Try this: http://www.ubuntu.com/

The only answer is ffr. 😀 😛

You may want to look at programs that are running in the background. If M$ is back to their old tricks and their old dll hell, those back ground programs may be interfering. Check your firewall settings as well. The windows firewall in a few of the newer M$ OS's has been a problem on some things.

Have you taken a look at M$ knowledge base?

You sure you're not thinking of Vista? Regardless, Linux is lame. Not lame like OS X lame, but still pretty lame.

Aquarian, you should also try downloading and installing Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware.
