WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Secretary of State Colin Powell said in an interview broadcast on Wednesday that he had no intention of resigning.
"Personally, I'm very much in sync with the president and he values my services," Powell told National Public Radio.
"If you would consult any recent Gallup poll, the American people seem to be quite satisfied with the job I'm doing as secretary of state," he added.
Asked if he was staying, he said: "Oh, absolutely."
Powell was responding to a question about an article in The New York Times on Sunday suggesting he resign on the grounds that President Bush had repudiated Powell's "deep suspicion of arrogant idealism."
