Green veg helps 'prevent' cancer

Eating vegetables such as cabbage, broccoli and brussel sprouts may prevent lung cancer.

The vegetables give 77 per cent protection - but only for people with inactive genes called GSTM1 and GSTT1 reports The Sun quoting medical magazine The Lancet.

The International Agency for Cancer Research said the veg contains chemicals called isothiocyanates, which prevent cancer forming.
