Mini iPod goes on sale

A new iPod about the same size as a chewing gum packet and costing £53 has gone on sale.

The portable digital music player, which is so far only available in the US, can hold 120 songs in its memory.

Maker Apple announced the new iPod as sales of the bigger version, costing around £219 and holding 5,000 songs, broke through the six million mark.

The high-tech player was the most wanted Christmas present last month. The new iPod Shuffle weighs less than an ounce.

Unlike its bigger brother it has no display screen. Owners scroll a wheel to play songs reports The Sun.
