HOLLYWOOD, Fla. (Wireless Flash) -- As if Friday the 13th wasn't unlucky enough, having it fall during the holiday season might be deadly.
According to safety expert Debra S. Holtzman, holiday activities pose some of the unluckiest and deadliest threats of the year.
For instance, each Christmas, emergency rooms treat about 10,800 falls, cuts and shocks related to holiday lights, decorations and trees.
Also, Holtzman points out if you have the bad luck of swallowing a pine tree needle, it can cut your throat or make you choke.
Finally, Christmas candles may be a tradition in your house but they're bad luck for the 1,200 people who are seriously injured each year in holiday candle fires.
Holtzman's new book "The Panic Proof Parent: Creating A Safe Lifestyle For Your Family" (McGraw-Hill) is in stores now.
